Jorge Rodriguez, better known as “La Voz Latina” was born in Mexico City.  His family moved to California when he was 4 years old.  He grew up listening to classic latin artists such as La Sonora Matancera, Sonora Santanera, Perez Prado and Beny More just to name a few.   His love for music and dance are two of his passions.  He was introduced to Salsa music in 1996 when he listened to Latin Jazz, and this new sound of music immediately captured his soul.  He instantly started taking salsa lessons which led to the introduction of one of the greatest and one of the pioneers of salsa dancing – Rogelio Moreno.  Rogelio asked Jorge if he would join his newly formed company, Salsabor Y Cache in 1999.  Jorge saw this as a huge compliment and a privilege to be mentored by one of the best.   For 4 years Jorge danced with SYC; teaching, performing and traveling.  After taking a few years from dancing to pursue other endeavors, Jorge came back to his passion in 2006.  Since Jorge was blessed with the gift  of communicating and speaking well in public, in both English and Spanish, he decided to use this gift by being the “voice” in the salsa community.  He is known for his work at Stevens Steakhouse by being the # 1 Announcer and M.C., hosting all major events.  Since then, he has been invited by others to host Salsa Congresses and other salsa events locally and abroad.   He is well known for his famous trademark of wearing “sunglasses”.  Jorge recently landed his own radio show as an Announcer and will be producing his own shows in both languages, playing latin music and inviting guests on location.  Jorge is proud to be known as “La Voz Latina” and if he runs into you, he might just ask you to be a guest on his radio show.
