La Clave is played with two wooden sticks.

3•2 Clave = 3 hits in the 1^st half  & 2 hits in the second half of the eight count.

3•2 Counts: 1^st, 2 ½ , 4^th, 6^th and 7^th.

2•3 Clave = 2 hits in the 1^st half & 3 hits in the 2^nd half of the eight count. 

2•3 Counts: 2^nd, 3^rd, 5^th, 6 ½  and 8^th.

Note: Music is played in a 4 time beat. So there are 2 measures of music in a Salsa/Mambo basic or dance measure.
